Testimonials:

She was an ardent devotee of God.  Sri Chandrashekarendra Saraswati (Shankaracharya) called her ‘Thennattu Meera’ (Meera of the South).

Bhavan’s Journal summed her up beautifully as a ‘God intoxicated soul’.

Swami Chidananda said of her, “We have in Amma a living proof that this divine woman is a soul encased in a body, and not the body itself.”

SriSri Muralidhara Swamiji summed up her contribution to the safety of India thus:

“In 1962, Andavan Pitchai, a great devotee of Lord Muruga who lived in Chennai (Tamil Nadu, India), composed a ‘sthotra’ – ‘Shanmukha Raksha Bandhanam’ – on Lord Muruga for the Nation’s victory in the war.”

Similarly, in 1965,, Singapparaja, a Brigadier in the Indian Army, approached Sri Kanchi Maha Periyava for his blessings and a prayer to help the soldiers.  Sri Maha Periyava instructed him to meet with Andavan Pitchai.  So, Singapparaja had darshan of Andavan Pitchai and prayed to her for the victory of the Indian Army in the war.  At this time, Andavan Pitchai had a wonderful vision.  In it she saw Ambal moving in a golden chariot drawn by devas and protecting our beloved border.  She immediately wrote a ‘Sthotra’ – ‘Kali Kavacham’.  Kali Kavacham was printed in tens of thousands and distributed to all.

Both the Shanmukha Raksha Bandhanam and Kali Kavacham saved many a life in the two wars.  Such was the greatness of Sri Andavan Pichai, as perceived by Sri Kanchi Periyava who summed up the Mahans of our nation thus:

“All the Mahans who incarnated in our Bharata Desa have always treated love for the Nation and love of God as one and the same.  Our Mahans have at one time labored for the freedom of our Country.  It is only the Grace of Mahans which is always protecting our country.”
